Eminent mathematician and Fields Medal winner in 1990, Vaughan Jones was particularly attached to the University of Geneva where he had studied physics before obtaining his doctorate in mathematics in 1979, under the supervision of Prof. André Haefliger.

Vaughan Jones' research work but also his enthusiasm and generosity have deeply marked all those who had a chance to work with him and who wish to pay him a vibrant tribute through this conference in his memory.

Music performance

In addition to the talks, a classical music performance will take place on Monday 27th of June at 4:00 PM, with a string quartet composed of young soloists, all students of Daniel Haefliger, and a Mozart trio played by Jean-Claude Hausmann, Ian Jones (Vaughan's son) and Ian's fiancée Emily Nolan.

Hike

If the weather allows it, a hike in the Salève "as Vaughan liked it" will also be planned on Wednesday 29th of June in the afternoon.
